The Zephyr V3

For this third generation, LA ZEPHYR has been completely modernized with unparalleled finesse. The reduction in the leading edge and central strut diameters results in a significant gain in performance and comfort, while retaining LA ZEPHYR's DNA: speed, upwind ability, stability, lightness, and planing efficiency.

 

Our 100% French and custom manufacturing allows us to control each step of the creation of the wings and therefore to offer several materials on demand.

THE ZEPHYR is available in several customizable materials:

- canopy made of CZ / SPI HP or Full Dyneema,

- structure in UPE85 or Dyneema.

 

The ZEPHYR is sold as standard with a rigid carbon freefly handle and a carbon boom.

What's new on the ZEPHYR V3 ?

 

Version V3 of our all-purpose wing features several improvements such as:

  • The leading edge and central strut diameters are very small in order to improve aerodynamic efficiency and flow, but also to reduce weight,

  • extreme reinforcement of the seams to achieve higher inflation pressures and high rigidity,

  • enhanced stability during freeflying thanks to the rigid carbon freefly handle,

  • modifying canopy tensions to achieve better pumping during startup phases,

  • an internal reinforcement system which makes the entire wing stiffer and helps to better maintain the profile.

The Zephyr program ?

 

The ZEPHYR is aimed at pilots looking for a high-end, high-performance wing for all disciplines. Despite its durable construction and materials, it remains one of the lightest wings on the market.

 

The shape and design of the wing are exactly the same for all material versions of LA ZEPHYR (Dyneema / UPE85 / CZ).

 

The ZEPHYR's program is all about versatility! Whether you're a surfer, a freefly enthusiast, or a freestyler looking to push your limits, this wing is for you. Its thin leading edges replace a double profile and also make it an excellent racing wing.

Possible handle options :

It is possible to order your Zephyr Wing with:

- soft handles,

- semi-rigid handles,

- 100% rigid handles,

- the carbon wishbone but with the 2 inserts in the middle. This option allows you to navigate with the wishbone but also to put soft, semi-rigid or 100% rigid handles. When mounting the wishbone, the 2 inserts in the center are hidden with dedicated covers.

- Deflate Wing paddle attachments for those who want to Deflate with their Zephyr Wing.

- UPE85 / CZ -

Robust.

The 100% Dyneema 34 gr/m2 canopy is a real technical challenge. Since Dyneema is very rigid, adjusting the tensions and developing the wings is much more complex than with a classic spinnaker which, with its elasticity, stretches and cancels out any folds. We have developed a special technique for assembling the panels in order to optimize the overall rigidity of the sail while maintaining optimum lightness and durability.

Dyneema: extreme rigidity.

Dyneema is an ultra-strong polyethylene fiber produced using a patented gel spinning process.

This remarkable fiber is up to 15 times stronger than steel. It has a high energy absorption capacity and very low elongation. It is also extremely resistant to abrasion, moisture, UV rays, and chemicals. It is the finest material available.

Made for racing.

Their reinforced structure and canopy allow them to perform very strongly in high revs. They are excellent racing sails.

Finally, they remain extremely light, which is very pleasant during maneuvers; you don't feel anything at all during a jibe, for example.

The Dyneema CT2K.18 canopy provides remarkable flex on the wings. So in gusts the wing absorbs the overload and does not destabilize the pilot. You can stay focused on your speed and continue to accelerate !

A different fiber orientation.

After multiple tests on the UPE85, we positioned the fibers of the material so as to recover the tangential forces to the cylinders of the inflatable structure. This allows to obtain an increased rigidity at equal pressure, compared to an orientation of the fibers in the axial direction of the cylinders of the inflatable structure.

UPE85: lighter and more accessible.

This is the promise of our UPE85 range. This material, manufactured by Dimension Polyant, is designed and dedicated entirely to wingfoiling. UPE is a laminated material, resulting in very strong seams and therefore allowing higher inflation pressures. Its coating protects it from UV rays and gives it a glossy appearance.

 

With its 85 gr/m2 it is lighter than Dyneema which makes it possible to push the limits even further and obtain even lighter sails.

CZ05: ultra robust.

At the same weight, CZ05 is much more robust than spinnaker cloth. It's an excellent material for wing canopies that are subjected to multiple, sometimes very significant, stresses. CZ05 allows you to maintain a high-end wing while offering a more accessible price than Dyneema.


This material allows us to push the weight limit of wings even further. Without even mentioning the shape, dihedral, and other design features, a lightweight wing is, by definition, a wing that flies well.

SPI HP - 36 gr

The CZ05 canopies are partly made of the new 36g HP spinnaker fabric manufactured in Japan. This ultra-resistant spinnaker allows for a lighter upper section of the canopy, making the sail more maneuverable and efficient.

 

Distribution according to size:

- On the smaller sizes, only the front triangle is made of SPI HP.

- On larger sizes from 4.5, the front panels are also made of HP SPI in order to further lighten the wing.

Rigid freefly handle.

The rigid freefly handle, which comes standard, is a real plus for surf and freefly enthusiasts.

Indeed, during radical surfing maneuvers, the wing follows you perfectly, and its control is optimized thanks to the rigid handle. This is very effective in surfing conditions where the wind is onshore or side-on. Combined with the remarkable stability of the Zephyr Wings, this rigid freefly handle is a game changer.

 

You become one with your wing, which allows you to concentrate 100% on surfing !

100% Made In France.

By purchasing a Zephyr Wing you are supporting the local economy. In order of the manufacturing process, here is the French production chain:

  • the materials are laser cut by a partner in La Rochelle,

  • the fabrics are glued and sewn by 3 independent workshops in the south of France,

  • the bladders are made in Trappes by Michelin,

  • the insignia logos are made by a French company,

  • the bags are made in France by an independent workshop,

  • 3D parts are made in France,

  • sewing machines are purchased in French stores,

  • All haberdashery (thread, double-sided rolls, insignia, needle) is purchased from a company based in France.

Les calanques

Undyed fabrics.

The fabrics on our wings are kept as they left the factory and are therefore not painted or dyed. All types of Dyneema® used retain their original appearance, highlighting their natural color.

The same eco-friendly approach is used for the ZL02 Aramid Black, where no logo is painted.

This strategic choice is in line with our values and allows us to drastically reduce the consumption of water, energy and CO2 emissions.

A sustainable wing.

At Zephyr Wing, we are aware of the environmental impact that our sport and our passion have. This is why we manufacture our sails in France as close as possible to the user and we source as much as possible with materials manufactured in Europe. The CO2 footprint of our wings is thus significantly lower compared to another wing on the market.

 

We are proud to be the only brand to master the wing manufacturing in France.

Recycled plastic parts.

All 3D printed parts are manufactured in France by specialized French companies.

 

These pieces use 100% post-industrial recycled materials incorporated. This initiative not only helps reduce plastic waste, but also supports the circular economy by reusing existing materials.

Bio-based Dyneema®.

Dyneema® is bio-based, which means that part of its composition comes from natural material. By recovering waste from the wood and pulp industries, these bio-based raw materials are mixed with fossil raw materials in the manufacturing process to produce ethylene.

Bio-based Dyneema® has the lowest carbon footprint per unit of strength compared to other synthetic fibers.

A sustainable product.

With the choice of using Dyneema® "The Zephyr Wing" we seek to develop a standard of durability on our products. Indeed with these noble materials, the structure of the wing deforms much less over time and it is therefore possible to keep it much longer than a classic wing.

We are therefore pushing for a responsible consumption model where the user keeps their sail for a long time and does not replace it every season.
